I had always wanted to learn how to play chess, but no one in my family played when I was a child and teenager. I recently retired after a long career and had more free time on my hands than I knew what to do with at first! I figured I would never become great at it at my old age, but would have fun playing anyway, so I hired a private chess instructor, and while it took a few lessons for me to remember all the rules, I have to say that I think I am a great player now! I made this blog to encourage people to pursue private lessons if they want to learn something new.
